Introducing the Emlid Reach RS3 GNSS Receiver With Tilt Compensation
Emlid has released the new Reach RS3 GNSS receiver, complete with game-changing IMU tilt compensation. Designed for survey-grade precision in difficult terrain or hard to reach locations, the RS3 delivers accurate results even with large tilt angles. Read our blog below for a brief overview of the Emlid RS3’s key features and capabilities.
Tilt compensation
The Reach RS3’s IMU-based tilt compensation enables you to make measurements with up to 60 degrees of tilt while still staying within 20 mm of accuracy. In addition, the RS3 continuously measures and corrects tilt in real-time to keep you on target.
This means you can maintain survey-grade accuracy while surveying at a range of different angles, which reduces your stakeout and data collection time and makes it much easier to survey difficult areas such as excavation sites, water, or building corners. With the RS3’s magnetic immunity, you can easily survey without worrying about being affected by electronics or metal objects.
Multi-band receiver
The Reach RS3 provides greater versatility for receiving corrections from CORS, another RS3, third-party bases, giving you the flexibility to mix and match RTK receivers when necessary. Work in RTK with VRS or a single baseline CORS network. You can also connect another GNSS receiver as an NTRIP base using Emlid NTRIP Caster. The range is over 60km in RTK and 100km in PPK.
Receive or send corrections between Reach receivers via LoRa radio (868/915MHz), on line-of-sight distances up to 8km. In addition, the RS3 is compatible with 450 MHz UHF radios, and works as a rover and base.
Get a fix in 5 seconds
Reach RS3 provides centimetre-level accuracy in about 5 seconds, maintaining powerful performance even when the receiver is tilted or the sky view is partially obstructed – the RS3 tracks GPS/QZSS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo.
Reach RS3 supporting software
Reach RS3 comes with the Emlid Flow mobile app for iOS and Android. This software can sync with up to 3 devices, and manages all field-related tasks, including receiver configuration, RINEX logging, data collection, and stakeout, as well as tilt compensation, coding, localisation, and background WMS/WMTS maps.
For on-the-go project management and planning, sync the field app with the cloud-based Emlid Flow 360 to easily access your survey data in a browser.
Additional Reach RS3 features
Along with the standout features above, the Emlid Reach RS3 also delivers:
- RINEX logging and PPP support – Reach RS3 records raw data in the RINEX format for post-processing. Use our free PPK software, Emlid Studio, or any other software with RINEX support. Logs are also compatible with OPUS, AUSPOS, and PPP services.
- Built-in LTE modem – Insert a SIM card into Reach RS3 and let it broadcast or receive corrections via NTRIP.
- Compact and rugged design – The polycarbonate body coated with elastomer makes Reach RS3 impact resistant and ready for harsh conditions. The receiver is dustproof and waterproof to IP67 with an operating temperature of -20° to 65° C (-4° to 149° F).
- Up to 22 hours on 1 charge – The industrial-grade battery can endure up to 22 hours of logging or 18 hours of work as an RTK rover with tilt compensation. For uninterrupted multi-day operations, simply connect a power bank via USB-C.
